Road Racing

The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, an IAAF Gold Label road race, was held on Sunday in the Indian city. The results were close, competitive and fast; eleven men broke 1:02:00 and six women were under 1:09:00.

The Florence Marathon, an IAAF Bronze Label Road Race, was held on Sunday in the Italian city. Winners were Berga Birhanu Bekele (2:09:52) and Asha Gigi (2:31:36).

The BLOM Beirut Marathon, an IAAF Bronze Label Road Race, was held on Sunday in the Lebanese capitol. Winners were Tariku Jufar (2:11:14, a course record) and Seada Kedir (2:31:38, also a course record).

Cross Country

The Canadian Championships were held on Saturday at Jericho Beach in Vancouver, BC. Winners both came off short rest from the NCAA Championships on Monday: Cameron Levins (Southern Utah) and Kendra Schaaf (North Carolina).

The McCain Cross Challenge Liverpool acted as the UK Trials for the upcoming European Cross Country Championships. Winners were Andy Vernon and Hatti Dean.

The fourth leg of the Kenya Commercial Bank/Athletics Kenya Cross Country series was held on Saturday at Mount Elgon. Winners were Timothy Kiptoo and Phanancier Jemutai, both considered upsets.

The Tuskys Wareng Cross Country was held on Sunday in the Kenyan town of Eldoret. Winners were Wilson Kiprop, the reigning champion of the World half marathon and African 10,000m championships, and Emily Chebet, the 2010 World cross country champion.

The Cross de l’Acier, an EAA Permit cross country meet, was held on Sunday in the French town of Leffrinckoucke. Joseph Ebuya, the 2010 World Cross Country champion, handily defeated Imane Merga, the 2011 World champion; women’s winner was Feys Tadese.
