Canada

The 47th Annual Knights of Columbus Saskatchewan Indoor Games will be on Friday at the Saskatoon Fieldhouse, with the action getting started at 5:00 PM Eastern time. Most of the top Canadian sprinters and hurdlers will be competing, and Olympic long jump gold medal favorite Brittney Reese will run the short sprint.

The Vancouver Sun Jerome Indoor Classic will be on Saturday at Vancouver’s Richmond Olympic Oval.

Down Under

The International Track Meet will be held on Saturday at Christ College’s Upper Fields in Christchurch, New Zealand. Action gets started at 4 PM local time, which is 10 PM Friday in the Eastern time zone.

The meet is a double celebration: the 50th anniversary of Peter Snell’s world 800m/880y records at Lancaster Park in 1962, and a year’s rebuilding and healing since the devastating Christchurch earthquake of last February 22. With the QEII stadium not yet ready for competition, the meet is going old-school and will be held on a grass track. The shot put will be an open even matching up Jacko Gill and Valerie Vili.

The Briggs Athletics Classic, part of Australia’s National Athletics Series, will be on Saturday at the Domain Athletics Centre in the Tasmanian city of Hobart. The main action begins at 5:45 pm local time, which is 1:45 AM in the Eastern time zone.

Europe

The Russian Winter, an IAAF Indoor Permit meet, will be on Sunday in Moscow’s Vladimir Kutz Arena. From a US point of view, the most interesting race might be Lolo Jones v. Danielle Carruthers in the 60 hurdles.
