The Weekend Ahead

Lots of action coming up this weekend…

Relay Meets

The 85th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays started yesterday with the decathlon and heptathlon. More action is on the slate for today, and the Mike A. Myers Stadium will really be rockin’s and rollin’ on Friday and Saturday.

Flotrack will have “almost live” video coverage, with race-by-race footage uploaded within minutes athletes crossing the finish line.

Scored Meets

UCLA hosts Tennessee and Washington State in a “double dual” on Saturday.

The Jim Click Shootout will be on Thursday through Saturday at Arizona’s Drachman Stadium. This used to be a scored invitational between teams, but they ruined it this year and have gone to mamby-pamby conference scoring in which nobody cares who wins or loses. Why score it at all?

On Saturday I’ll be announcing the Toledo Collegiate Challenge, a scored meet between teams from D-I mid-major and minor conferences plus a few D-II and NAIA teams. Probably the best individual event will be the men’s shot put, matching up Buffalos’ Robert Golabek and Findlay’s Derrick Vicars.

Other College Meets

The Arkansas Spring Invitational will be on Friday and Saturday at John McDonnell Field.
Schedule | Live results
Arkansas’ RazorVision will have a live webcast from 2:20 PM Eastern time on Saturday.

All the rest

The Hervis Prague Half Marathon will be on Sunday in the Czech capitol.

Another scoring meet this weekend that you might enjoy would be the Cal-Nevada Championship meet. This is a scoring meet open to all 4 year colleges in California and Nevada. Field sizes are limited to 36 on the track and 27 in the field and in all events, except for the Steeple and 10k, entry times are limited to current year marks (indoor marks included). A nice mid-season championship style meet with Saturday prelims, a Saturday night distance carnival, and a nice tight spectator friendly schedule on Sunday with a team champion crowned following the 4x 400m. Love the blog, keep up the good work!
