The Diamond League resumes today in Stockholm, where they’re celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 1912 Olympics and the OlympiaStadion, the beautiful old brick stadium built for it and still used for today’s DN Galan invitational. Video coverage kicks off at 2:00 PM (Eastern time).
The IAAF has your preview, highlighting eleven Olympic champions entered, and the most competitive events appear to be the women’s 400 meters, men’s 400 hurdles, and women’s pole vault. What’s on the weekend: The Joensuu Games, an EAA Area Permit meet, takes place on Saturday in the Finnish city of Joensuu.
The Hochsprung-Eberstadt (High Jump Eberstadt), an EAA Premium meet, is in the German city over the weekend with the main competition on Sunday. The competition brings together all top jumpers from the Olympics (save the U.S.-based jumpers who had to get back for classes: collegians Kynard, Drouin, and Barrett, and high school math teacher Chaunte Lowe).
On Sunday the Berlin Fliegt, a four-nation long jump competition, takes place in the Pariser Pltaz, on the eastern side of the Brandenburg Gate.
The Gugl Games, an EAA Classic meet, takes place on Monday in the Austrian city of Linz.
The Istvan Gulai Memorial, an EAA Classic meet, takes place on Monday in Budapest.
