Ted Meredith

Penn, 1914-1916, middle distance

Meredith was the rare athlete who came into college already a champion. As a high schooler, he won the 1912 Olympic 800 meters in world record time, added another god medal in the 4×400 relay, and took fourth in the 400 meters for good measure.

In six dual meets over three years at Penn, Meredith was undefeated in ten races. The last of them saw him break his own World Record in the 800 meters.
